Masjithul salam [Mosque] was started in 1987at Mawadi Junction to cater the prayer needs of Akkaraipattu-06(21) Sri Lanka people, Due to the terriesom in those days in a small cottage, on the name of “Masjithul salam”

Mr. ALM. sareef (movlavi), Mr. MAC. Hayoo(Tr),

Mr. UL. Mohamed Meearasahib (Banker),

Late Mr. MB. seeni Mohamed haji (Muathin)Mr. ULM. Hashim Haji (vetriyar veliaithambi) Mr.MB. Jawfer (Eng) were dedicated their time to establish this Masjith for the prayer purpose In 1997/1998.

Up to now there were no proper establishments, but everybody in the “Mahalah” has done their participation on behalf of Allah to be alive and active.

They declared an official administration and a trusty board to this Masjith (Mosque) in 1999/2000. As Mr. MAM.Ismail (president), Mr.ALA.Mohamed Yoosuf (secretary).

In this time, to overcome Lack of the Land of the Masjith, Mr.ULM.Hashim Haji (vatiyar vllathabi) Presided to rebuild the Mosque with dedication Mr.MA.Manazir (Eng), Mr.MA.Makkarim (Eng), Mr.M.Munawfer (Dr), Mr.ILM.Ameer (Tr), Mr.ALA.Mohamed Yoosuf (Tr), Mr.A.Mohamed Sameem (Lawyer), Mr.MAM.Ismail (chief Registrar -Ampara Kacheri) Who helped to complete this Mission.

Here the building complex was furnished by Mr.ULM. Hashim Haji. In 2000/2001. Mr.Issadeen (Tr), Mr.CS.Musammil (Tr), Mr.MUM.Raheem (Tr) were started the Quran Matharasa [Quran Classes]

Named “AL-Matharasathul salamiyya” with the help of Mowlavi. Sajahan with ten students in this Masjith. Now Mr.Mowlavi.MB.Alavudeen running this Matharasa with 120 students. And Facing Lot’s of hardships as lack of space, Income and Fundamental Facilities.The Annual convocation of this Quran Matharasa is carried out for every two years under Supervision of the Masjith Trusty board.

After decade with this Masjith and Quran Matharasa on 2010-08-15 the Administration decided to establish a Cultural center to Increase the public relationship. Named “Salam Cultural Center” (scc).The purpose, aim, Laws, Customs of the cultural center are made as a constitution by Mr.ML.Mohamed Lafir and implemented.

The previous Administration announced to be dissolved on 2011-07-01 then the New Administration and Trusty board is elected on 2011-07-05 Meeting For masjith, Quran Matharasa and Salam cultural Center.

Post were given as follows;

Mr.MAM.Ismail (president), Mr.MB.Jawfer (Vice president), Mr.ALA.Mohamed Yoosuf (secretary), Mr.ML.Mohamed Lafir (vice secretary), Mr.IM.Asanar (Treasurer),

Members:

Mr.ILM.Ameer , Mr.MAM.sakkariyah , Mr. ALM.Kaleel , Mr.ALM.Kafoor , Mr.AL.Ameer ALI , Mr.YB.Iqbal , Mr.MIM.Nizam , Mr.LT.Abdul Razzak , Mr.MH.Ihjas ali , Mr.MA.Rifty Ahamed , Mr.MIM.Issadeen [Auditor].

And also in this Meeting to Over Come in the Masjith the need of Modernized new building was Questioned and Submitted the correct way to build the new Building for the Masjithul Salam , AL-Matharasathul Salamiyya [Quran Matharasa] , and Salam Cultural Center by the following Youth……. Mr.AL.Amjath , Mr.MH.Ihjas Ali , Mr.MF.Ahamed Asnain.The building Committee also established in this General Meeting.

02. Conducting a Quran Matharasa. [Quran classes].

03. Free Religious Advices.

04.Dahwa Activities.

03. Brought Out Cultural Activities For neighborhood.

04. Free sermons by popular Ulamahs for Man and Women

Separately twice a Month.

05. Organizing free tuitions classes for under pre village children.

This Masjith locatedin Mawadi Junction, Akkaraipattu-06, was temporarily started. During the period of terrorism in 1990.

Later in 1995,this masjid was established as a small building and at present it is functioning as a main [Mahalla] for 5 times prayers along with a   Al-Quran Matharasa functioning in it.Around 125 students living in the surrounding of this masjid are learning Quranat present, and the population of the mahalla has also exceeded 500.Tharaaveeh prayersare offered to more than 100 women, during the period of Ramzan in this masjid.

At present, the necessity has arisen to reconstruct this masjid as a cause of the old building has started to damage and lack of space to carry out the above mentionedactivities properly.

Therefore, the mahalla people have decided to reconstruct this masjid as a three storied building. Here the Ground floor has been decided for the five times prayer, the 01stfloor for the [Al-Quran Matharasa] while the 2nd floor is to be usedas a place for Free Medical services, Guiding, counseling and as a place toprovide social services.

Insha Allah thenew construction works of the masjid are to be started on 01.10.2011. The ground floor is to be constructed in the first phase of the project. The proposed B.O.Q for this floor is around 4,000,000/= [US$ 36,500]

          Proposed B.O.Q for 1stfloor is 3,500,000/=    [US$ 32000]

          Proposed B.O.Q for 2ndfloor is 4,000,000/=  [US$ 36,500]
